Summary of the "Declaration of Rededication
to the LBL Promises and Mission"

The government took 170,000 acres of land from the people living in the Land Between the Lakes with the promise to these people that the government would:

  1. Keep the land pristine.
  2. Allow no commercialization.
  3. Allow no permanent human habitation.

The failure of the U.S. government to Keep These Promises to the former land owners (and to those being forced to purchase that land) would be a breach of public trust.

The authors of this document want to ensure, for all U.S. citizens, that their government will not break the promises made when the land was taken. If our government is interested in restoring the trust of the American people the LBL would be a good place to begin.
